90 CMS.,ALSO CALLED LARGE EGRET OR GREAT WHITE HERON .IT IS A LARGE HERON WITH ALL WHITE PLUMAGE.IT IS ONLY SLIGHTLY SMALLER THAN GREAT BLUE OR GREY HERON.IT HAS YELLOW BILL AND BLACK LEGS AND FEET,THOUGH THE BILL MAY BECOME DARKER AND THE LOWER LEGS LIGHTER IN THE BREEDING SEASON.IN BREEDING PLUMAGE ,DELICATE ORNAMENTAL FEATHERS ARE BORNE ON THE BACK.MALES AND FEMALES ARE IDENTICAL.LARGE SIZE SEPARATES IT FROM MOST OTHER WHITE EGRETS EXCEPT INTERMEDIATE EGRET WHEN NOT SEEN TOGETHER.DISTINGUISHED FROM INTERMEDIATE BY LONG THIN NECK WITH A SHARP, ALMOST RECTANGULAR KINK IN IT WHEN NOT FULLY EXTENDED, AND LONG SLIM DAGGER-LIKE BILL (APPEARS LONGER THAN HEAD);GAPE EXTENDS BACK BEHIND EYE;IT HAS A SLOW FLIGHT WITH ITS NECK RETRACTED.IT IS FOUND MAINLY NEAR LOWLAND JHEELS,MARGINS OF LAKES,RIVERS,CREEKS ETC.
